A family (mother, father, and their son and daughter) drive from New York to Arizona in search of the Apacheria, the land of the Apaches. On the radio, there is news of the immigration crisis at the southwestern border, and the plight of children being detained, or worse getting lost in the desert. This story of discovery is brilliantly written from unique perspectives. Valeria Luiselli was the recipient of the 2021 Dublin Literary Award.
