Description:

In this workshop, we’ll explore the fundamentals of story structure and how they apply across film, television, and innovative formats like vertical storytelling. Regardless of the medium, strong storytelling principles remain essential. We’ll also examine what makes scenes effective and how to write them successfully. Participants will have the opportunity to try a short writing exercise and start shaping their own scenes. Led by Ben Gross, a working filmmaker and instructor at ASU’s Sidney Poitier New American Film School in downtown Los Angeles, this session provides a hands-on introduction to the building blocks of storytelling. It’s a relaxed, welcoming workshop for anyone interested in writing for the screen. Recommended for ages 12 to 18.
