Forty years after his death, film director Alfred Hitchcock is still known as “the master of suspense”, and his movies retain their popularity and critical acclaim. A number of his best films are based on novels, and it’s always fascinating to see what elements he and his screenwriters retained from the original story, and what trademark Hitchcock touches only appear in the film adaptations.
