Explore 中央図書館

旗艦図書館である中央図書館は、72の分館を含むロサンゼルス公共図書館の本部です。全米で3番目に大きい中央図書館であり、各専門分野には280万冊以上の書籍、5,000誌の定期購読雑誌、300万点以上の写真、1,000万件の米国特許のデジタルアクセス資料に加え、語学学習資料やマルチメディア資料が所蔵されています。中央図書館には9つの専門分野別部門があり、窓口、電話、郵送、電子メール、チャットなど、さまざまな方法で参考サービスを提供しています。利用者は市内全域から資料を注文でき、最寄りの分館に配送されます。

中央図書館建物の概要

歴史ある中央図書館は1926年に開館し、絶賛を浴び、以来1世紀近くにわたりロサンゼルス市民や観光客を迎え入れてきました。 建築の至宝として称賛されるこの建物は、屋根のタイル張りのピラミッド、壁画で彩られた広大な円形広間、そして1993年に開館した近代的なアトリウム棟など、数々の象徴的な特徴で知られています。

この建物は8階建てで、総面積は53万8000平方フィート、書架の総延長は約89マイル、座席数は1400席以上を誇ります。コンピュータセンター内および館内各所に、無料で利用できる公共用コンピュータが255台設置されています。Wi-Fiによるインターネット接続も可能です。ロサンゼルス統一学区（LAUSD）のダウンタウン・マグネット高校は、この中央図書館を教室として利用しています。
