About the Event

Drag Storytime is just what it sounds like! A drag performer reading books to kids that explore themes of inclusivity, self-expression and joy. The program begins with a drag storyteller explaining that drag is dress up and imagination coming to life, and what drag means to them. The storyteller will then read 3-4 books, engaging with participants, asking questions about the material and guiding participants through the stories. Participants are encouraged to engage as they wish, answering questions or just enjoying the stories! The storytime ends with a musical book or song. Following the storytime, participants are invited to participate in a craft where they can make their own drag puppets (or whatever they want!). Participants also have the option of taking photos or meeting with the drag performer for the duration of the hour following the books. For children aged 3 and up and their families. For more information, please contact children@lapl.org.
